Random thoughts, and a conversation

I signed up for three months of yoga class and I still haven't made it to one yet. Thank goodness there are 2.5 months left.

I hope Zi-Cam saves me from a cold because kids are coughing and sneezing all over the place.

Channel locks and vice grips are NOT the same thing.

I miss the Wild West... their winters and their sunsets.

I've had it planned for 2 weeks for the Art Club kids to carve pumpkins next week. A fellow teacher came in today with a GREAT IDEA for Art Club. Gee, she said I should have them carve pumpkins. Gee, I already have the pumpkins ordered and a "Pimp Your Pumpkin" flier already printed.

I'm making a new collection... of pints of and Ben and Jerry's ice cream in my freezer. They have my name on them. In my freezer.

Conversation I had with a student:
student: I hate taking communion.
me: really?
student: Yeah. I bet the disciples went hungry.
me: uhhh, why's that?
student: well, if all you ate for a meal was a crumb of bread and a shot of grape juice you'd be hungry too.
me: well, it's not supposed to be a meal... and what does it have to do with disciples, exactly?
student: well, the bread and booze was the Last Supper. Is that why prisoners on death row get a good meal? Because Jesus's last one sucked?
me: *blink, blink*
Me: uhh, I think you're a little confused. The Bread and wine was not served as the Last Supper.
Student: are you sure?
me: uhhhh, yeah, I'm pretty sure.
student: then why do we eat bread and wine at church?
me: because it's a symbol of Christ, of His sacrifice for mankind. the bread represents his body and the wine his blood.
student: oh. Well, what did they eat at the Last Supper?
me: I don't know.
student: tacos. Jesus is a Mexican name so it was probably tacos.
At this point, I didn't say a word. Sometimes it pays to just be quiet.

Oooops, I did it again!

I swear I'm purposely NOT not taking a yoga class. I really WANT to take a yoga class!

BUT!

(Yes, there's always a big "but." By not taking yoga, I have a big butt....)

But, on Monday I was asked to drive for cash for work. I looked at my Tuesday calendar and it was clear. I was searching the brain cells because it felt like I was supposed to do something but it wasn't written down so I thought I was mistaken. So I said yes to the driving (to the making cash.)

Then at lunch, my yoga partner asked if I would be mad if she backed out because it was the worst Tuesday for her: her son had a karate demonstration, her oldest daughter's violin lesson got changed, her youngest daughter had a doctor appointment, and then the two oldest kids had some sort of school open house thingy.

DOH- yoga! *head slap*

I told her what I did and we agreed it was fate to not go to yoga.

However, after school when I was getting ready to leave, I learned my drive was canceled- the parent couldn't make it due to the weather 2.5 hours of here was terrible. I already knew my yoga partner was out so I just bailed because I didn't want to go alone.

ITSam and I went out to dinner instead. Then we had what I thought was a discussion, which he turned into a disagreement, which somehow turned into a full fledged fight, because he's an idiot.

I should've gone to yoga and gotten all zen-ed out.

Next Tuesday......... yeah, I know. That's what I said last week!

Paving the road to hell with good intentions,

"N"oga

Last night was supposed to be my very first yoga class. Well, guess what?

Noga. Or no go. The weather canceled it. It was blowing, drifting, icing, and snowing is all. Bunch of wusses. The weather really is bringing just about everything to a stand still. So much for exercising and crossing things off the list. Wonder if my first spin class will happen tonight? I'm not holding my breath.

It's so bad that we actually have a snow day today. This is the second snow day Alcatraz has taken in five years. Other than sleep in, I'm not sure what to do with myself. See if ITSam wants to come over and play board games, watch movies and eat all the junk I bought, probably. (though Laughing Cow Cheese spead on Wheat Thins isn't horrible junk, right? However, if I follow it by cookie dough and bbq chips that might be bad....)

If you're watching the weather across the country I'm living right in the middle of the horrendous blizzard and ice storm. Banks, libraries, coffee shops--- all closed. Gas stations are out of gas, stores have no milk or bread. True story- since yoga was nixed I went to Wally World because we needed bread. We really needed bread- we had the heel left, and a stale hot dog bun. I bought bread and a bunch of other junk we didn't need. I thought I'd grab some eggs, and lo and behold--- no eggs. The shelves were full of milk and bread but NO eggs. There were, I should say, organic eggs that were $4.98 for a dozen and there were only 3 cartons of those. I bought none. No eggs. I thought that was pretty strange. How does a blizzard equate to eggs? Why does a large amount of snow drive a person to frantically purchase eggs?

After all the weather is over and done with, there'll be classes later I'm sure. So as for next week's yoga class, I'm thinking I better "be there or be square." Or be there and be a pretzel...

*********** editor's note: This morning we are now getting snow- not more ice- and we're under a level 2 emergency. I don't know what that means other than DON'T DRIVE but it doesn't sound good, does it? We're supposed to get 12-18 inches and we're probably near 8?
