If this were the case, then please, arrest me!

*** Edit*** I had a cartoon image here an nothing else but I was getting comment that no one could see the image; hence, the explanation. I have no idea why I can't get the image to show here- I can see it. Weird.

Basically, it was a cartoon picture of a woman, drinking coffee, and saying to another woman in a conspiring tone, "So then they handcuffed me and said 'Anything you say can and will be used against you' so I said 'Johnny Depp.'"

I thought that was awesome!

Random Tuesday musings

Just because I love Johnny Depp doesn't mean I want to sit through Rango.

I'm almost 40 and I have zits on my forehead. A complete "you've got to be kidding" moment.

I wish I could wear a pencil skirt.

Gwyneth Paltrow is amazing, and I enjoy her in everything, including Glee!

I downloaded the Boggle app on my phone and I'm becoming addicted. I was thinking that tomorrow's lunch at school is disgusting so I was going to just sit in my library and play Boggle. I might need therapy.

There's a barber shop where the stylists dress like a Hooter's waitress to cut hair. The walls are covered in huge flat screen tvs that play sports over and over. The haircuts are about $30. You've got to be kidding- again.

Alcatraz is going to an all year round school schedule the next school year. So much for summers off- which I think is a GOOD thing. I'll let you know the details as they are forthcoming.

Randomly yours,
Maggie

Doing Nothing on a Wednesday & the adventure up my sleeve for today

Yesterday was one of the best days of my spring break......... I did nothing. I didn't even take a shower or take off my jammies. I laid on the couch most of the day and watched movies, read a book, and napped.

Now it was raining, dark and thundering and lightening, so I watched the storm. Oh I could think of only two things better: 1) having a lie-in with a wonderful man doing the same things but adding sex to the list, or 2) spending the day shoe shopping. Since there's no man there was no sex. Since there's no money, there was no shoe shopping. So I did my third favorite thing to do on a warm stormy day- nothing.

My stack of rented movies was high so I just watched those (Secret Window, Ned Kelly, The Jane Austen Book Club, The Soloist, Mystery Alaska) all day long.

Mac was in the house, in his room, playing video games, Facebooking, and texting. He'd pop down to see what I was doing, say hey, talk for a minute, grab food, and disappear back upstairs. He and I made homemade pizza. We'd never done that together before and we had all the stuff to do it. And we actually did it together. He was like a little kid with Legos, building his pizza. We ended up with three layers of pepperoni and three layers of cheese on this sucker. So now I know when he goes to college he'll be able to make home made pizza, hot dogs, and scrambled eggs.

Oh, I talked on the phone to Curley, to XRayGirl and... a fella I know. I also had a screaming match with the Sperm Donor- well, he was screaming and I was calm and relaxed, which freaks him out even more- the arsehat fucktard. I also played on the Internet. I did a touch of laundry. Talk about the best day...! (Even with laundry and the asshat!)

Oh, and one more thing! I ate chocolate, lots of chocolate! Goddess bless the after Easter candy sales!

I seriously love doing nothing. I like working, sometimes, for the most part, and yes, I do like doing crafts and hobbies, but sometimes doing nothing is perfect. a seriously huge case of doing nothing.

Now I am leaving the house today. First, XRayGirl said she is going to take my hair issue into her own hands. She made an appointment for me with her stylist and, I'm here to tell you, that girl had BEAUTIFUL hair. Stunning! Her stylist has very short hair so XRayGirl thinks her stylist can help me- she can either fix it or give me ways to work with the mess. (But from what XRayGirl repeated her stylist said she's probably gonna have to cut it all off and let me start all over again with a frickin' pixie cut, one more time... Karma/ Dogma hair)

Okay, back to me leaving the house. XRayGirl and I are going with her Granny to an Amish bakery and cheese shoppe. Then I'm going to my hair appointment, and XRayGirl is going with me for moral support. After that--- we're going to *gulp* go driving. She's going to teach me to drive a stick shift. I have no idea how to drive a manual transmission and she's decided to teach me. It would be a good thing for me to learn, right? If nothing else, it'll be good blog fodder. After that might involve booze for both of us- we may need it.

I'll let you know how it all turns out, from the hair to the driving. Maybe we should drive first because then if she pulls my hair out, I won't be bald?

Happy Thursday!

Why in the hell would I have the blahs on a 4 day weekend?

Well, I was going to post about my Black Friday non-adventure adventure and about hangin' with Hecate on Wednesday but Mac has my car. I gave him permission, he didn't steal it. But this is the first time I've let him use my car and I can't seem to focus on writing right now. I know he was just going to Wally World and then to a friend's house but I'm still nervous. I KNOW he'll be fine, right? I also have the "blahs". Too much litter in my head to try and write. And I think I'm trying to catch a cold or something.... dunno. I'm just "off" right now.

So I'll leave you with this:

Makes me feel better!

Happy Halloween Meme!

Have you ever been to a Halloween party that you didn’t remember afterward?
Well, I remember bits and pieces of the party, not much of the afterparty, and the next morning was.... not my best moment.

What is your favorite costume you've ever seen?
I saw a guy dressed as a pack of Lucky Strikes

What is your favorite couples costume?
This is gonna sound weird but I always thought it would be fun to go with a friend as one part of Sherlock and Watson

Ever worn a home-made costume?
Oh yeah- I was a clown, a gypsy, and Captain Hook- all homemade

What was the sluttiest costume you have worn?
I was a "Naughty Witch" one year (Trooper, do you remember that?)

What are you going to go as this year?
I'm not. Well, that sounds crappy but what I really mean is that I probably won't go out of the house dressed up since I'm not going anywhere tonight; however, I am gonna wear a witch hat and cape, and a hot pink wig to answer the door for trick-or-treaters. (and my Halloween socks and flip-flops)

Have you ever done a Halloween prank?
not that I can recall

What was your craziest prank?
Nothing- see above

Have you ever done anything on Halloween that you regret?
nope, not any more. I had a chance for a "do over" so now I have no regrets on Halloween

What was it?
It involved Trooper, me in a naughty witch costume, a huge amount of vodka, and a Halloween Party

Do you believe in ghosts?
I think so

Have you ever seen one?
not exactly

Would you date a Vampire?
Not hardly, not even Edward

Would you date a guy that looked like Frankenstein if he was really rich?
Depends on how rich

Does one of your ex's remind you of Frankenstein?
nope, but my ex-husband's wife looks like Frankenstein...

Would you spend the night in a haunted house on Halloween for 100 dollars?
yes

How about 10,000 dollars?
abso-freakin-lutely

What is your favorite thing about Halloween?
candy

If a person were to give you a Halloween gift, what would you want?
A copy of Sweeney Todd on DVD- the Johnny D version, of course!

What is your favorite type of candy?
chocolate or gummi things

How old were you when you stopped trick or treating?
about 13 or 14, but I've some serious thoughts of going tonight. If I had a costume and a mask, no one would know I was an adult and not a teenager, right?

What was your most embarrassing costume?
I don't remember any that were embarrassing

Who would you rather hang out with on Halloween, a really hot guy/girl or your bffs?
Whomever would be willing to have fun! And I think XRayGirl is going to come over when she gets off work to watch a movie and have a Halloween drinky-poo!

Would you rather go to a party as a bride, a chicken, an astronaut, a sailor or a playboy bunny?
a bride

If you had to be stuck in a horror movie, which would you choose?
ummmmmm... Nightmare on Elm Street?

If you had to be the bad guy in a horror movie, which would you choose?
The bad guy from Halloween

Would you rather carve a pumpkin or eat pumpkin pie?
Well, since this is about Halloween I'm going to say carving since eating pumpkin pie is a Thanksgiving thing

Do you like candy corn?
Sometimes (I like it best when mixed with peanuts)

What is the craziest thing you plan to do this Halloween?
Nothing crazy... Just gonna dress up to give out candy to the kids, have some Hawaiian meatballs and Halloween cupcakes, watch some DVDs and just chill

Are you the one who goes out and parties or are you the one that stays home and gives out candy?
I give out candy.

Hot costume or scary costume?
Hot and sexy anytime

Hot date or fun date?
Can't I have both?

Black rose or plastic skull?
both

Bats or Broomsticks?
Broomsticks!

Vampires or Zombies?
Vampires.

Murderers or Ghosts?
Ghosts

Pass out or freaked out?
I'm not good with either

Squeeze a hand or hide behind a pillow?
Pillow

Left alone in a field or left alone in a old house?
left alone neither!

Stranger in an alley or stalker?
they both sound scary so can I say none?

What is your favorite scary movie?
I don't watch scary movies, but tonight I'm going to watch Practical Magic and The Witches of Eastwick, my non scary Halloween movies

Are you excited about this Halloween or do you not care?
Doesn't matter to me at all!

Can I be the Princess today? (my answer is 'hell YEAH'!)

This is it. I'm almost 40. I can't believe it. I have two more agonizing years in my 30s after today and, well... then I'll be 40.

Tonight 9 of my family and friends are joining me for dinner. That's very cool. I have no idea what else I'll do since I'm almost 40.

But as for today, I'm 38. 38 years old. I want a pony. And yes, I said 38 years old, not 8!!!

And if I can't have a pony, can I have Johnny? Please? Ok, 'prolly not, but I do have cake candles to blow out and a wish to make...!

So happy birthday to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow.

Visual feast of what I want

Since I wrote a wickedly long post yesterday (and if you only skimmed it now's your chance to go read it!), I decided to cheat and just make today a visual of things I want:

Dress to Thrill bath rug (and the entire Dress to Thrill Bath collection)

the perfect margarita

A pair of pink Jimmy Choos

To go on a cruise

and of course, Mr. Depp!

How about being on a cruise wearing new Jimmy Choos, drinking margaritas and eating omelets while laying on the new bath rug with JD? Ah, bliss.... What all are some things YOU want? Do tell!

A girl can dream,

He could never be my enemy!

Since I morphed from my previous blogger persona into Maggie, many readers here at "shoes/purse" may not know the extent of my devotion to Johnny Depp. I am a fan. Not a wacko have his posters hanging on my walls at age 37 and write him fan mail sort of wacko, not a stalk him sort of wacko, but I am a huge fan. I think the man is talented and his body of work shows his vast talent and the fact he never sticks to a certain "type" of character. He's not afraid to take cinematic risks. I think he's made some crappy films, but I still think he is one talented man. And he's beautiful. Handsome. Sexy. Passionate. And well.... :ahem: I am a huge JD fan. So...

Last night was the opening day, or public premiere, of Public Enemies, the biopic John Dillinger film starring- OMG- Johnny Depp!

And this was a great film. I was impressed. Well acted, well shot, well... just well everything, except for 2 very bad lines of dialogue that weren't really "bad" dialogue, but really didn't fit the time period. Otherwise, this was a fabulous film. And I was thrilled that I went to the latest viewing which didn't end until 1am.

Americans are fascinated with gangster movies- we have an ongoing love affair with everything mobster. And this movie would just romance ya right to death. From the zoot suits and car running boards, to the Tommy guns and music, this movie had it all. It was a perfect period piece with lots of action, a little romance, and some perfect Johnny Depp.

This was also shot in high def video giving it sometimes a grainy handheld camera feel, which I think was apropos for the time period. Sort of gritty, which worked. Director Michael Mann made a good movie. Only in America do we take a man that J. Edger Hoover declared as "Public Enemy Number One" and walk out of the theater feeling sad about this demise. It could be because Johnny Depp was that Public Enemy, and men and women alike appreciate the actor, or it could be because it was just a great movie. (Depp is far better looking than real life Dillinger ever was!)

I have no idea how much artistic liberty was taken with the life of Dillinger in making this film. I don't know much about him, and that really didn't matter to me. Sometimes I just want to go see a film purely to be entertained and this did entertain me. Major stuff wasn't changed, I know: Dillinger is a bank robber being hunter by the FBI- led by Melvin Purvis (played by Christian Bale. Does this guy EVER smile? In real life even?). Dillinger did other bad stuff. They got him. Okay, that's true enough and all the filler in between? Well, let's say it makes a good story no matter what. This isn't research- it's a movie, for fun!

I know lots of people are panning this film, but I personally enjoyed it, recommend it and think there lots worse ways of spending 2 hours and 23 minutes.
