I do not answer the door during the day because it never fails to be Jehovah Witnesses, selling their god door to door and that just pisses me off. If I wanted to worship that way, wouldn't I just show up at the church?
Would they go away if I told them I was an atheist or screamed "OOOOOOO, now I have someone for my sacrificial ritual!"
I wish they would just stay the hell off my doorstep AND it also irritates me that they leave literature... can't they see the sign that says clearly "No solicitors."
Hell, the banging on the door came at just the right time because I had nothing to blog about... and maybe I would've been better off to just skip today altogether.

I had some show up on my door, and I automatically pointed to the bright red plaque that said "NO SOLICITORS" and told them that it including those who were trying to sell religion. They didn't leave literature and no one has been back since!
Oh, I forgot to say, most door to door religious types (and it's not just Jehovah Witnesses) don't see what they are doing as soliciting.
They are spreading the word, but I disagree. You are trying to "sell" me your idea of religion and that is exactly what that sign says I don't want!!
I nearly hit the roof when those folks showed up at my door one time on CHRISTMAS DAY! I'm afraid I behaved in a very un-Christian manner. They bug the hell out of my mother-in-law, but she's too nice to tell them so. Just let ME be there one day when they show up....
I have to say I usually chit chat with Jehovah's witnesses if I have the time. I actually befriended a woman years ago and studied with her for 1 year no strings or money attached. I learned more about the bible then than in any other time of my life, they really know it well! Plus due to their homeopathic ways I learned a lot on natural remedies, etc and use a lot of what I learned from her to this day.
But the Mormons I see riding around on their bikes, and they NEVER stop by. ... do they pick and choose which houses need their help? or do they honor the "no soliciting" on our door?
Hecate- I wish I would've been that smart but I just stayed hidden!
Bragger- on Christmas? Christmas day? Are you fucking kidding me? I would've been beyond pissed off...
Ty-Anna: it's very cool that you had such a good experience! that's awesome!
And I always wonder the same things about the Mormons, but I still don't want them on my door either!
For years I had a sign on my door that said "any religion that has to be sold door to door won't be purchased here." My wife thought it was rude, but after being interrupted several Sunday afternnons, she finally agreed it was a good idea. I am thinking of posting it again.
